One thing Steve Jobs knew was "what has potential" and knew how to "market" his products, there's no other company in the world which has such loyalty by users.

As a side story:

Back in year 6 I used to hate Macs, because they were so different to windows and tbh using a Mac for the first time in school when you have no idea what to do is rather annoying... but slowly I developed a liking for apple products, this is all good marketing.
