definately take a break, relax, watch tv, eat or whatever if you're brain isn't working - i mean, it's not going to go in then, what's the point? and if you feel like ur wasting time not doing ur work, then do something productive that doesn't require brainwork - like for example typing up notes on the computer than u handwrote or something, or like when i write my syllabus notes, most of it doesn't go in my head anyway, i just write and afterwards i read it - so u cud do something like that. the main point is to take breaks during work, like every 30 minutes take a 10 minute break, so ur head isnt overloaded.

- other ideas:

- put some music on work with that (i dont usually recommend it, but at this stage - it's better than not working at all)

im sure we've all gone through this once in our HSC lives.
its due to stress (apparently)
even though i dont feel the stress~
i know im stressed when i cant seem to study properly..
so i go for a run or do something i enjoy for about 10~20 mins
its not going to kill you for wasting 30 mins of your study time.
its better than wasting it just sitting there staring at your books
and not being able to study at all.
after some relaxation you should be able to concentrate a little better =]
