Im doing tom Brennan for close study of text
and I dont know what kind of related texts would work well with it
if anyone can help would be very much appreciated

Any texts that feature adolescents going on somewhat similar inner journeys would go well with it. BTW I've read The Story of Tom Brennan but for pleasure, not for the HSC.

Yeah, I've read it too, James.

Um...I would give Saving Francesca a go.

Because she is put in a new environment where she doesn't want to be, like Tom.

Her entire family is falling apart due to one person, like Tom.

Her extended family try and help out, like Tom's (grandmother).

Both have romantic plotlines as well.

Both have to realise they can't fix everything and it is out of their control.

At then end of the day, Saving Francesca is a much well-written book than The Story of Tom Breannan will ever be.

I would do Saving Francesca.
