Re: Australians against further immigration

The irony of this group having a representative named Tibor Patakfalvay (Shellharbour) was not lost on me.

Fortunately, the party pretty much came dead last.

I saw one electorate, where AFI had 1 vote:eek:

What is sad, is that they probably give preferences to the Liberals.

They're even more hilarious than Fred Nile

as we've discussed before with the state having no power over immigration

I mean, at least Fred Nile has other platforms

but their whole purpose is something they'd have no power over even if they won all the seats in both houses :D

Re: Australians against further immigration

i got one of their pamphlets in the mail. It was pretty racist. I can't remember everything it said but there was something about asians and muslims and "illiterate african refugees". They got more then one vote in the goulburn area- 663 to be exact!:p
I didn't put them as a first preference but hughes ranked a lot higher than goward.
how embarassing for pru? even if she does win- howard put so much money into her campaign- i think her freaky posters turned people off.

You have to get 50 signatures of eligible voters or something, but yes, as long as the party's name isn't offensive or easily confused with the name of another party.

I stand corrected. I checked the AEC website: if you can't find a member of parliament to join your party, you need 500 people who want to join. There's also a $500 registration fee.

you'd get my vote

in the words of alice cooper..."I promise the formation of a new party, a third party...a wild party" :p

You don't need that many votes to win in some electorates...but what exactly do you get for winning? Sitting around listening to people arguing in the state upper house for 6 years for a healthy paycheck? (yeah, i've forgotten everything that they taught me in grade school >_>)

They use overpopulation as an excuse.

Overpopulation of what? We've got a few hundred thousand square kilometres of nothing out there and while they might lack absolutely everything, I fail to see how that's a valid excuse for racism ...
