Resume Writing - Correct/Appropiate Order (1 Viewer)

Hello All (those who have gone before me, experienced with writing resumes)....

I am about to start writing my first resume.

Is anyone able to share with me, the structure of the resume they used?

Any general rules/ tips you could share with me???

Never write resume on your resume. Include things like contact details experience, you might not have any but list some of yourr achievements and extra activities

Two words of advice:

Don't make it generic (tailor your advice to suit the position you are applying for - I figure it may be less relevant if you are looking for part-time/casual work compared to full-time work)

Don't make it too long; the punchier, the better.

Also, if you arent getting anywhere with it, that's a sign that you need to change it - you should aim to regularly update your CV and make necessary changes based on your experiences.

tbh; still don't understand. what i originally said was that it is not advisable to title your resume "resume"

My resume was based off a template in Word... and even tot his day, I still use it (admittedly it's been changed quite a bit). That, and LinkedIn.

It really depends what you're applying for- if it's your first resume, chances are you're either applying for a casual or graduate/internship type role (i.e. where the resume isn't as detailed). For casual jobs, the Word template will be more than adequate. For grad/internships, maybe check out the careers website of a university (I used something from UNSW Careers back in the day for my cover letter).
