At ANU it varies... school of finance and applied statistics will give you ZERO if you hand an assignment in late at all, while most in the arts faculty have you lose 1% per day.

Technically you can do 3 I think, but in reality you may not even be able do two... The majority of majors (certainly the ones I looked at in any great depth: accounting, finance, economics and information systems) all require you to take extra subjects in addition to your major subjects to gain...

Even if you're heading elsewhere you probably wouldn't have any real difficulties transferring. Most commerce degrees at all unis i know of include faculty electives, so any units done only by eco students could be made up by drawing from there instead.

Don't go to a self catered residence then. If you go to a catered residence shopping becomes so infrequent its almost insignificant. Accommodation is subsidised... its as cheap as you're ever going to get unless you live at home for the rest of your life. If you're eligible for youth...

Yeah... its unusual to see someone forming such strong opinions over something they haven't ever actually tried...

You'd never hear it on these boards, but Macquarie does have an incredibly highly rated MBA program (ranked first in australia by businessweek and second by economist magazine if i'm not mistaken) and a highly regarded undergrad commerce program, particularly in finance, economics and actuary.

Looks like the same decision I'm making :) From what i read on the college websites Fenner is 2.5 km away from the campus whereas B&G is right there, so thats my main reservation about staying there. Fenner does however appear to have slightly better amenities, and they offer a shuttle...

Thats a little unfair... macquarie seems to get ranked above UTS far more often than vice-versa (yet to see it happen)...

Hmmm, certainly from what I've heard from numerous careers advisors and the like, macquarie uni has a far better reputation than UTS... At any rate it really shouldn't matter... one of my friends' brothers did their business degree at UNE, graduated with a distinction GPA and is now earning...

It puzzles me as to why that's the case... I'm yet to see any rankings that rate UTS as being above MQ...

If I'm not mistaken B Ec involves a major from an economics field, while B Com involves a major from any business discipline you want, including economics.

Yeah, the majority of formals held there are for people in year 10...
