you're actually so lucky to have english as your best subject :(
I'm more of a math-orientated person and a lot of the time I wishI was the other way around
so am i, i hate english and really like science and engineering, i don't even do english in class i do math, lol. I know that i can do good in english exams coz i work well under pressure, whenever i have a week to give in an essay i end up with like 70% lol, i made up my english essays for my yearlies and ended up with 94%

I used to be interested in engineering but because of my parents and an inability to study the "computery" and "engineering-ish" subjects at school, I've gradually lost interest and moved on. I don't work that well under pressure because I never get stressed in exams :p I'm one of those people who need to work consistently throughout the year

english is just bleurgh though so I'm looking forward to uni (with no english xD)

I suck at both lol
you seem like you're good at english and I think you have potential for a band 6 quite honestly.

I swear I'll be one of those people who get a band 5 and bring shame to my school lol

I don't want to come across as stalker-ish or anything but I've seen excerpts of your writing and i feel like the way you present ideas is really good, plus your amazingly sophisticated vocabulary~

whenever I have a thesis/point to make my sentence is so plain lol

eh, it all comes down to practice tbh

English was actually my worst subject in year 10 and I had to work my socks off to improve

having simple language is fine, is long as your thesis/point has a purpose

going to work my butt off as soon as I recover. I've been sick all week and my plans to smash yearlies have kind of been rekt lol

would you say that it's really important to have tonnes of quotes in your essays for english advanced? My teacher showed us an essay from last year that got really good marks and basically half the paragraph was like quotes (textual evidence). I'm starting to think that you can have the most basic and babyish idea but get really good marks if you back it up with evidence

quotes are an integral part of an essay, so obvs yes :haha: but be sure to find ones that encompass a text as a whole, don't just pick a quote for the sake of blatantly putting it in your essay
