What are my chance of getting into either sgghs or girra for year 10 2026 ( also which preference should i put it on), i got first place in math for 3 years, src for 2 years, dance team, debating team, been to all the sport carnivals for zone, first place this year for stem, commerce and math, do only one outside extracuricular like adfa, im working on my dofe and tutor mathematics to year 3 outside of school, got reserved last year for sgghs (year 9 2025) and
my naplan for math is all triangles but my writing and grammer is at the white box for 60% with the state
My valid exam is not that great but it high Level 5
my science and english are poor and my science has been dropping with A to B but now im getting mid range B in english
All A's in my other classes
I also got a scholarship two years in a row each lending me $2000, ($4000) in total
I got student of the month
Do math accelerated
Participated in math competitions
Please tell me if this is enough because i'm kinda sick of applying on not getting in and rather go to a good public school atp. Should I put girra 1 st preference or 2nd?
Also what are some ways to study for the mathematics reasoning or English? I'd love for any feedback and ways I can improve this portfolio.
r u from AGHS cuz western uni gives that scholarship to auburn girls as far as I know

Thank you for the advice because honestly I'm stuck on it because I heard theres an extra class for new year 10 but also its more achieveable to get into sgghs because I got reserved

I think you should definitely put girra 1st because they're higher in the rankings I'm pretty sure and they pick like a whole entire class. When I went to the interview last year there were about 30ish people I think that got in just for year 10 entry

As someone in your cohort who transferred from Chatswood to Sydney Boys this year i'd say you should move to schools depending on :
1. what atar you are aiming for
2. the school's proximity.

from my experience at chatswood, Chatswood High actually has very nice facilities and the canteen is stacked as. They also have 2 selective classes "A' and "B" and one gifted and talented class which is often better than the B class. If you are aiming for 90+ i'd say you have a decent shot at chatswood cs ik some of the chatswood kids and theyre by far smarter than kids at sydney boys so thats one id recommend.

Honestly if you really just put in the work next year. e.g get grades up, study ahead, join some clubs and do some competitions and sport you could realistically get into any school apart from the top 20.

Fort Street im pretty sure you only need to write an essay for the testing phase.
Manly is extremely easy but the difficulty might be subjective but i'd say manly has a good rank and is not difficult to get into

My recommendations are Manly 1, Fort St 2, Chatswood 3. Purely based on rankings.

Hope this helps, ask me if you have any other questions
fuck off frankle

anyways, you know how you have an option to give a letter of recommendation? my dad was telling me to ask my primary school teacher (I'm in yr 7) for one. is that like, ok? because I'm not going to embarrass myself if it's not

or u can say to them that a scholarship outside of skl needs a recommendation from the head teacher or principal asap ( if u want but saneetaa 's one is more sensible )

I did HAST test in year 7 and my result for abstract reasoning: average/above average (top 50%)
Math: average/above average (top 50%)
English: high average ( top 15%)
Writing: superior (top top 10%)
Total: in total top 15%

I am aiming for top 10% and I am doing my best to get no less then top 15%. I have lots of good excs (badmington, musical, debating, swimming carnival, etc) and I also did AMC, CAT, Big science competition, ICAS (2023&2024). I got rlly good in ICAS distinction for math 2023 and 2024, 3 marks away from high distinction. I got good for NAPLAN (2023) I got nothing lower than band 7 and for NAPLAN (2024) they changed the style the highest was triangle then. Everything is good except my report, however my school is top 10, so I hope that makes it better. I got A in christian studies, math and english, I got B ine eveything else despite getting good marks. E.g. for science I got 26/30, I still got a B. Also lastly I got c for pe and latin..which really nerfs it. Do u think I have a chance?
okay so from my experience i've gotten top 15% every year but i haven't made it since they pretty much only choose u if ur in the top 10%. i reckon if u can push ur abstract a bit then u have a likely chance of getting in cause a lot of people do really good for that section so even if u only get like two wrong, it can really bring down ur mark. as for ur grades, they dont really matter unless u actually get chosen and then they check. from what u said, u only got C for PE and Latin which aren't the top three main subjects (english, math, science) so i dont think u should worry too much abt it :)

alr ill say that I need a letter for a school application. Just double checking, you are allowed to ask a teacher for one right?

Can you only get into Penrith if you're in the top 10 percent for all subjects or can you still get in if you have like top 15 percent in some?

Like for the hast exam? I think they usually pick people that are in the top 10%
They care more about like ur overall ranking like all of your marks added together and then the schools get a separate ranking for each of their students
