yo guys so i havent heard anything back from hurlstone or mac fields (my other two schools, that i applied for next year yr 9 2026 entry, 2nd and 3rd choices respectively) only sydney tech interview via microsoft teams so far as i said before, does anyone have any last min tips (since my interview is on monday 8am online) and does anyone know if tech has enough spots for yr 9? how many kids do they usually interview?

In my application, I also included my 2024 Short List letter from Fort Street High School, A letter of recommendation from my 2024 English teacher and one of my speeches from a public speaking competition.
My 2025 school report only has 1 B in music and the rest are A's, I also currently study agriculture and I have an A in it as well, so I think that's pretty good for Ruse. However, my 2024 reports aren't as good (a few more b's).
My 2024 NAPLAN is all in the exceeding bracket with grammar & punctuation and numeracy being in the triangle.
My 2022 NAPLAN is good except that my writing is below the national average in it.

I just did Edutest this year and, tbh, my Reading and Verbal Reasoning scores weren’t great
. I’ve seen ppl here get multiple Superiors and I’m really curious how u prepped.
Would love to hear what worked for u guys cus I wanna level up big time for next year

- Did u mostly grind past papers or work on vocab/logic stuff?
- How early did u start, and how much did u practise each week?
- Any hacks for staying focused and managing time in those long reading comps?
- Did tutoring or study groups help?

Hiiii, I still don't know my edutest scores but I'm doing the interview to Ruse on Wednesday. My mum bought the edutest past papers, and they are really similar, so I would say work on them. They also basically tell you what's tested. For eg. math, there will be trig, geometry, financial, so like focus on that. Take screenshots of wrong questions (and right ones if you want to). And for vocab, write it down and go over it (memorise). I think there were at least 3 words that came up again. ALSO MAKE SURE TO READ THE QUESTION PROPERLY. I pretty much only started revising make 3 weeks before, but my math is ok, so it was fine for me. In all honesty, I kind of revised last minute so... Anyways, for reading comps, read the questions first AND THEN read the passage. I don't have any tips on staying focused though- I kind of just get into the zone of doing an assessment. Tutoring did not help like specifically, I think just make sure you are well rounded in all areas (eg. I would do math regularly regardless of assessments so I was well versed in all the math topics rather than revising purely for the edutest).Hey everyone,
