None of the Japanese, Chinese, or Korean (and I assume other languages) 1A/1B/2A/2B/etc courses are listed on the timetable website.
However, if you change the URL of pages like this from 2009 to 2008 (ie. this), they were all listed last year.
What gives?

Yeah, I'd just noticed and was about to come back and withdraw my question.
Seems level 1 is "introductory", level 2 is "intermediate", level 3 is "advanced" and level 4 is "professional".
Why do they always pull crap like this...

The logic behind that is so their courses sound far more "prestigious" and "sophisticated" than just a coded number.

Compare French 2A to Intermediate French, then Japanese 3A to Advanced Japanese.
Tell me which one sound more "professional" and "hardcore"?

To me, the newer course names makes them sound... hard.

/Edit: Though they probably are.... but erm... yea...

The courses seem exactly the same. We're even going to use the same textbooks

I meant the course codes, not the course names.
