Yeah, but they're always willing to make a story about an "Auzzie Battler!" doing the hard yards and seemingly the 'little' guy getting picked on by the 'big' guy, as they always say on that horrible show.

If you really care about your mark you will do whatever it takes to make sure that guy gets what he deserves.

By the way, letting a student do the exam again is against the rules. If he was sick he would theoretically need to hand in a misadventure form with a doctor's certificate or a note from a parent if it regards something other than sickness. use that against him. Your teacher violated the rules.

Yes, definately complain because that person should only achieve first person on a fair basis. Besides, your only likely to know these teachers for another 5 months, so who cares what they think. There obviously not doing there job probably if they are allowing for this too take place.

You should follow the advice that everyone has given you on how to handle you situation , but as far as marks goes , the board of studies is notoriously tricky to predict ...
Each year can be different ... but you are ranked in second place and if your teacher ranks you in second place to the bos and if you do better than the person that is coming first your marks will probably be swapped , if this asian person does really bad in the final exam and a lot of other people do bad then your mark may be brought down if there arent many people getting top marks , but this also depends on the state , if the whole of nsw does bad in it then the bos will think that the course was particularly hard this year and all the people who got above average will be pushed up... you just dont know what happens each year so just do the best that you can !
