a student almost destroyed my chemistry work today due to their carelessness. i presumne that it was one of the international asian girls, who i enjoy watching because they always make such fucking stupid mistakes'

-adding water to 2g or so of NaOH...in a small measuring cylinder, on plastic, without gloves
-handling bromine sloppily without gloves
-putting chlorinated waste in the non-chlorinated bin
-forgetting to attach water tubes to their reflux condenser
-handling any number of rotten chemicals (pyridine etc) in the open lab

except today they rubbed me the wrong way, and KNOCKED OFF SOMETHING THAT MADE THE CHLOROFORM EVAPORATE

not happy jan

Ouch how did that happen? Are you being serious about Dubbo? I really do want to hear if you hear bad things about it because I don't want to have a miserable year. I'm not abandoning of my other interviews though, especially not Concord/RPA.
He is being semi-serious.
Dubbo Base Hospital is the one that got in hot water over staff having to pay for medical supplies out of their own pocket, blah blah blah.
Meant to be better now though.

Don't worry lala, you'll soon find out they're all crap.

Westmead is 60million dollar in debt. Auburn Hospital has not been able to afford any new staff for a year. Specialists at Westmead have not been paid in weeks in some cases. RPA closed down its maternity ward because it couldnt afford it. etc etc
Welcome to the wonderful world of NSW health, lala!

Wow. That's most sobering info, but definitely info that I needed to hear. Yeah, western and south western Sydney health is known to be terrible but I can't say that RNSH would be doing much better. I would think the only really loaded hospitals are private ones, and maybe St Vincent's?

I don't think loaded necessarily means better working environment. Nor does private hospitals necessarily mean better patient service either. Some shocker stories out there about private patients having terrible injuries due to surgeries with expensive specialists.

Working in a public hospital can be great. It just gets frustrating when management cuts patients services or staff because of 'funding shortages' but then they create another General Management position costing 200,000 + a year despite the fact we already have plenty. But pharmacy sounds like its less involved with bureaucracy than the other departments, so you should be fine.

nobody reads queer honi or womens honi besides the respective interest groups, because the issues are pointless, boring, dull and discriminatory.

not that i give a shit, and nor does anyone else apparently, given the shockingly low distribution of this weeks honi soit

about time we give up the women's honi given that women aren't a repressed minority at uni (or out of uni imo). dunno about queer honi, since i think it serves a purpose, albeit one i care not for.

I never realise it's queer/women's honi til I read it.

The queer one is usually alright, but the women's one is always a load of tripe about how we're all oppressed and we need some bullshit autonomous space because we sure as shit can't write in the normal honi or sit on a table in manning because there are MEN there and they will RAPE us, even if it's just by not actively campaigning against rape.
