Greetings Y'all,
I'm doing optom at UNSW and get the choice between MATH1031 MATH1131 and MATH1141
can anyone explain how much scaling affects marks at UNSW? <3

Also i did 4u last year but id rather MATH1031 and MATH1131 (partially bc I had one of the lecturers as a tutor before and he was super nice).
Is MATH1031 a good idea for someone who did 4u? (My 3u + 4u = 174) Or will stuff from 3u get repeated too much?

Thanks guys xx

Doesn't seem like you have any other maths related courses to do (apart from maybe physics), so I'd stick with MATH1031. Also, you'd be with your life sciences related peers, so that's definitely a plus.

MATH1131 gets scaled alongside MATH1141, so you're being compared with very capable students (the sorts in engineering, maths, stats, physics etc). MATH1031 is a separate course, and I recall a very small percentage get HD. But I'd say a D in MATH1131 is harder to achieve than a D in MATH1031, if you're a student teetering between a Credit and Distinction.

Since you did 4U, you should have no problems with MATH1031 - do well and come first the course!
