you dont have anyone to compete with and be pushed by, other than yourself.
that bit will suck.

Both your internal and external depends on your HSC result.

Specific beneift is that your Mathematics Extension classes will be like one vs one tutoring. Only student to care about is you and it's all good.

Only disadvantage is that you are the only one that your teacher will pick on.

I'd love to have a 1 to 1 class. Except, everyone at my schol does Ext 1 English, about 170 people do Ext 1 Maths, about 120 do Phys, same with Chem - and abuot 45 do Legal. :(

But yeah, there's noone to push you or to compare yourself with.

the fact i have no one to compete with, could that be the reason i got 100% in a prelim assessment when the other (1) person was there, but my first hsc assessment was 50% (with only me)?

lol

and now i find out that even though its an eleventh unit, it can still count. i was just doing it for pre-requisite, and wasnt really worried about the mark. now i wish i tried. because i could have done well.

it'll all scale to your external mark.

Go decent in your assessments (inernal) and your external mark should be your Moderated Assessment Mark (HSC Mark)

My schools is similar, except my school is smaller, so about 100+ people do 3U math, 90 for phys, same for chem.

Theres only about 140 people in my grade.

3 people in english ex1 - girls
2 in english ex2 - girls

4 in ext history - girls

4 in ext math 1 - 1 girl, 3 boys

1 in ex math 2 - girl

theres only about 60 kids in my grade
and that number drops monthly.

small classes have their advantages, but youve got a smaller variation of imput, because, well here, the people in ex class are not only the top of their respective subjects, but generally close friends with similar values.

I'm the only one in my Maths B class (although about 80 people do it)...the timetable didn't work out so I have to teach maths to myself :( :) (it has good and bad parts). Can't say anything about HSC/UAI though for obvious reasons :)

good = one on one time with the teacher. If you are going to work hard and your teacher is good then this can be beneficial as it would be like having a tutor teach you the course.

bad = no one to beat (ie less motivation)
You cant really tell how you are going in comparison to other students as you will come first in everything
If you screw up the external exam you are fucked (unless you have 11 units)

EDIT: I just realised you had 11 units. This is good because if you do screw it up it will not neccesarily count towards your UAI, and if you do well in it, it will.

I'm the only person in my year doing SDD, although this means I have to do it by distance ed. There aren't any teachers qualified to teach it at my school lol. Just out of curiosity...does this mean I'll be the only person in the hall doing the HSC for this topic? Or will there be other exams held at the same time? I'm a losty yeah!

To the OP.

What you get externally, will be your raw mark.

Your internals won't count, we had this discussion for someone doing foodtech.

Not sure how it works for assessments etc, but I'm the only one in my German class, and find it's actually quite good. I only get one lesson a week, but I work totally at my own pace. If I get stuck on something, we spend more time on it, and if I find something really easy, we go through it really quickly. So even my weak points are pretty good now, cause i get so much one on one time for them.
