Anyway, still stuck on choosing between 2 brands. Ie LG and BenQ. Which one is better and why?
you must stop looking at brands, boths LG and BenQ have lots on 17' models.

post some models and we might be able to advise you on which model is best.

or if you give a price range we can help you decide which is a good model.

don't get 19in LCD's, they have same resolution as 17in and have much slower response times, that is, when you watch movies moving objects will be blury.

also for $800 you can get 2 17in LCDs.

no. msy dont sell dodgy stuff. they might. i had a hdd problem. they replaced it.

they cheap. contents are still sealed in original packaging. how can it be dodgy aye ?

i'd go with LG, 17". dont buy lcd monitors with built in speakers. they bust easily

i decided to reseruct this thread as i am looking into LCD's and figure bumping is better than creating a new thread.

i'm looking to spend less than $800.

the Sony 17" TFT Monitor SDMHS74 looks aiight, i was also looking at some LG's, but they dont seem 2 have any prices.

my main purpose is to get a digital monitor, to match my digital TV tuner card. any advice??

sony isn't always best. read some reviews before you buy.

and why do you *need* an LCD for your digital tuner? the tuner is a PCI card right?

EDIT: $800 you can get top of the line 17' LCD or a decent 19'
note: 17' and 19' have same resolution.

I reckon BenQ is the best, I'm pretty sure they have a new model which has a 8 ms response time. that would be the one to get if u are into games or video

ive always liked samsung monitors .. they usually seem to get a pretty good wrap from people - although i dont own a flat monitor my self - so i cant really say from personal experience - but its the next thing on my list of things to buy after my apple powerbook.
