I know a lot of people had their area of study trial today, so how was it?
The first section was reasonably straight foward, and pretty good. The creative writing section asked for "an engaging response that takes the responder on a journey" or something to that extent. Not so great in that section, to be honest I don't even know if I answered the question properly
Section 3 was an essay :) and the question was something like "Most people focus on the destination when travelling, valuing it above all other aspects of the journey." reply to this statement blah blah blah. I think I did pretty ok with that one as well.
What were some questions, and how do you think you went?
(I did a trial made by my school, or at least that's what we were told.)

Did the catholic trial 8:55-10:55. Section 1 was hard, but I expected it. Keats poem was hard. Discoveries? Challenge? Section 3 was ok, spent too much time on it. Good section 2, I used the horizon quote. How'd everyone else go? I went meh.

Did the catholic trial today. Managed 2 pages for the creative thing, and 6 for the imaginative journeys essay. Probably screwed up the first section.

ooh i think i did the same paper as you. the advertisment was easy enough..its the poem that threw me. damn it. crazy poem. anyway the paper went ok, but i really should have spent less time on the essay and more on the creative. it was so tough with the time...my writing was really really messy..and i didnt get time to re-read anything

I finished it! With 5 minutes to look over my essay! I cant believe this! An essay AND a narrative - no other text types!?!
Paper 2 is going to be sooo shit.

Section 1 was alright - the last question was pretty long - and repetitive
I had about 45 minutes left to do Section II at the end. And my story sort of fit...

YAY! its over!

Good Luck people!

Am I the only person who used multiple pieces of the stimulus material in q2?

I used the 2 quotations, and then an abstract interpretation of the sun thing.

We did the independent.

Section 1 - Was cool, one of the sources was The Motorcylce Diaries!
Section 2 - Lame. Lame. Lame. - 3 lame questions.
Section 3 - Ours didn't specify a genre to respond in; so I wrote a speech...a crap one.

Hmm that's strange because the motorcycle diaries poster was one of the sources for mine as well... Did you have a poem about some bookshop and a newspaper article about commuting?
Couldn't have been the same paper but, because we didn't have three questions to choose from for the creative piece

Had it today too....I don't think our school did any of the same papers as what you're describing.

Q1 - pretty easy as expected.
Q2 - Journeys have unexpected outcomes...showed a bunch of stimuli and picked one to write anything. Pretty easy too.
Q3 - I did physical: Debate speech for/against "Every journey has it's own reward".

I'm most worried about my Q3! I ran out of time (even though I started on Q3) and only wrote a little on my stimulus text...arghh....and I went "Against" in that speech...don't even know if my argument was good enough.

In what order do you guys usually do your questions? I do Q3,1,2.

Nah.
T2 was an article from SMH about a father and his kid
T3 was a story about New Zealand

OMG!
The father and his kid? You mean about the disease DMD? And research?
And New Zealand - was it about how stingy people are in New Zealand???

If that is so - then something is amiss... - That was the paper someone posted up a couple of weeks ago...the section 2 had three options and the journey question was about greater understanding or something...
