You shouldnt really drop on the basis of an ATAR estimate (for more info on the reliability and accuracy of estimates check out my thread here: (http://community.boredofstudies.org/showthread.php?t=279027). Consider these issues when deciding on dropping a subject (in order of importance):

1) How well am I doing in it?
2) Is the workload to high - will I gain a lot of time by dropping it?
3) Do I like it?
4) Do I need it for uni?

I reckon you should keep the extra unit as there are only a few months till the HSC. The extra units can act as protection in case you do badly in the HSC in one subject.
