Massive Stuff!

I did ENGLISH STANDARD in year 11
and then was asked for the opportunity to go to advanced...

SO I DID

but i can relate to people saying getting 50-60% in advanced is equivalent to 80-90% in standard.

I have done my area of study and half yearly exam and they went fairly well... just average i guess...

But i hate area of study... CITY! CHANGE! kill the people who say those words..

maths is black and white
english is grey

adv. english requires a degree of sophistication and perspective. girls have a bit of an advantage in this field at this point because they mature faster then the boys..
on the other hand mathematics requires the logical side of the brain, which guys can handle alot easier :p

I like subjects where there are no definite answers like English

Advanced English is not to bad....

At least english isnt what it used to be like... U had to be an ace speller and like worry bout gramatical stuff to get full marks... Now its more bullshit

Sorry, but it would depend on the teacher and the topic...

There is a right and a wrong answer in general terms, and if you stray from the right answer without a very solid base then you are skating on water that still hasn't realised that it has lost its ice...

Yeah, I have to agree with people saying that we can't compare maths and english. I do Advanced English (I hate it, but I do Ok.. ;)) And I did 2u Maths half way into year 11 and droped it coz it was too hard..

..Advanced and Standard may have different work loads, but almost half of both courses are common.. I was told in year 10 that your putting yourself at a disadvantage by doing Standard, and I've seen that it was pretty true...

As for selective schools only having Advanced english, Sydney Tech offers Standard English (I don't go there.. LOL.. public, normal school for me ;)) ... But refused to offer General Maths. hehe... hmm..

Cheers!
