Does a source that you often refer to need constant in text referencing? (1 Viewer)

Just a quick question.
I'm writing a critical article review of an journal article. Naturally, I always refer to the author of that article as I consider their main points eg "Smith claims that..." "Smith's assertion is that..." what I want to ask, is do I need to use the year each time I refer to him? So does it have to be like "Smith (2000) claims that..." every time I mention their name?

You can probably use terms like "the article" or "the author" as well. Talk to your lecturer though.

If you're allowed, get onto footnoting ASAP... it's soooooo much easier... buy a guide to citation book with the referencing you need... also helps... as your lecturer whether you can footnote... you won't look back
