I'm considering to do B eng (electrical) / B sci (maths) or B eng (electrical) / B commerce. I just want to ask which major in commerce would complement or be useful in my future career and would this be more helpful than B eng/ B sci.

I would go with elec/maths but you should do elec/commerce if you really are interested in commerce otherwise it will be really boring and you wont do well even compared to engo courses. Im guessing you initially wanted to elec and then decided to add something on there?

Adding commerce is just if you think you might actually fall back on it later which I can't imagine for myself. As for job prospects you just need to get experience in engineering and I doubt you will get the job just because you did commerce as well. As for business skills and such, you don't need an undergrad commerce degree for that as you can come back later and do something like an MBA or MBT. Now combining with maths is also a similar thing, it will really help with elec i think since we do the most maths out of all engos. Otherwise if you are a full maths geek then go for it anyway!

Major in either accounting or finance. I'd say accounting as its the most useful major in terms of getting employed. Finance wouldn't be a bad choice either if you wanted to complement your engineering major.

Thanks for the above replies.

Just another quick question: If I were to choose B engineering / B commerce and regret it later in first or second year (when the commerce electives starts), would it be simple to switch back to B engo/ B sci or drop B commerce all together.

Yep just an internal transfer from eng/comm but you can't do an internal transfer into it.

The reason being that your UAI and course marks are needed to transfer to a degree that has a higher UAI requirement than what you're doing now.
