Hey everyone,

Ive been messing around with my subjects lately to make it a bit less stressful for me, but now im kind of double-guessing my atar aim.

The subjects im currently doing are:

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • General Maths
  • Advanced Eng
  • Ext 1 English (Probably gonna pick up Ext 2)
  • SOR 2 (Compulsory SOR)
  • Modern History

Im interested in forensics science, and the atar admission is either 85 or 80. But im really hoping for a 90? Hopefully more. Would it be possible to get this. And would general maths really effect my ATAR? I did, however, come from advanced/accelerated maths and was going to sit my hsc this year, but it was really stressful and I decided to drop straight down.

I hope some people here can give me their opinions and help me out :).

as long as you put in the effort, you should be able to achieve 90.
you'll be doing 13/14 units, even if you screw up maths, it won't count :)
all your other subjects seem to be decent as well, but as long as you're good at them and able to achieve band 5/6 for them, then you should be fine.

In a way, more if its possible with those subjects and a fair bit of effort put in.
Yes, 85.00 is possible with those subjects. Biology, Chemistry and English generally scale well. Work consistently throughout the HSC year and if you do your best you will probably achieve an ATAR >85.

Isn't 97 achievable with any 10 unit set of board developed courses? I agree though - if he works consistently throughout the year 97 is possible. To get 97 he'd also need to perform very well on his exam days.
