Now I've been looking around reliable websites and also through textbooks but 50% say they are organic compounds but the others say they are inorganic compounds. This is also the case with both my PDHPE textbooks :/

Referring to the title, does anyone know for sure which one it is?

How can vitamins be inorganic? They organic compounds which are required in small amounts for the normal functioning of the body. E.g. 'Retinol' is a subtype of Vitamin A essential for vision, bone growth and skin.

They can be synthetically produced, but for what reason?

Organic may refer to two things. Organic Material is matter which is derived from living organisms or their waste. Organic molecules are molecules which contain carbon. Both define vitamins as organic.
