That is because you view it through the prism of a man setting out to to maximize his interests and after centuries of patriarchal social conditioning you are lead to believe that these interests should pretty much include all the earth and heaven too.
You've got it all wrong. With the way the current system works a man can be heavily impacted if a child is born that he did not want, via compulsory child support payments. If the man was not affected by the kid being born, then sure - he need not have a say. No one is saying that one party or the other should have all the power, which is exactly the point. Both parties should try to agree - and if they really can't agree, I think the woman should the final move because after all it's her body. Not to say the man should have no say, but not the final authoritative decision.

can a woman, by law, force the father to take a paternity test if he is denying its his child?

I don't think that anybody should judge another person for their views. For those who say that when a woman partakes in sex, she should know the consequences and deal with them. And what are you men going to do? If thats your overall attitude to another human being, what makes you the be all and end all of what is morally right or wrong? For every woman, there is a different decision, and no-one should judge another for what they choose to do with their body. That being said, I would not have an abortion, because I believe that every human should have the chance to live. But I would never shut out another person based on their beliefs about their body and how it will personally affect their lives. And those of you who have been really rude about it, it just shows what a complete tool and egotistic person you are.

Yup

Unborn fetus is part of the womans body, she can do whatever she wants with her own body. Father and fetus have no say whatsoever, and that is perfectly fair.

It isn't, though. Not when there's real world consequences for the father. If a father does not want a child, and he has taken all contraceptive precautions (apart from getting a vasectomy) in order to prevent it from happening, why should he have to take care of it because his female partner decides to keep it? Should there not be some sort of way that a man can opt out of the child's life?

Right now you're saying that a woman can get a dude to get her pregnant and then force him to pay her child support + extra costs for the entirety of the child's life because he has no say in whether he should raise a child or not.

This. Both man and woman should have a say.

can a middle ground be reached. A woman could say she will raise the child and doesnt need child support to be paid.

I'm not contributing to this thread in any useful way, but I'd like to say that some of the posts and arguments have been absolutely painful to read.

Someone in this thread needs to practice their comprehension skills - urgently.

There is some room to argue that a man should be able to get an injunction against an abortion, not much but some, but to suggest a woman should be compelled to have one is disgusting.

Abortion should be compulsory.

I agree. The flipside of which is saying that a man being forced to be a father because of the woman's decisions is just as bad and is tantamount to slavery.

obviously a man being able to veto a woman's decision is a ridiculous idea. i imagine the the right to consultation for a father would be the least intrusive option. however, this would obviously mean that a woman could not have an abortion without telling the father. is that a good thing or not? and what exceptions could you make? while i like the idea of a father having some rights, and not having to support an unintended child when he made the reasonable precautions, it might be too complex to legislate.

a sensible man with his wits about him would flee to somalia if he was faced with such a situation.

My personal standpoint is if a woman has an unplanned pregnancy and the man does not desire to be a father he should not be compelled to play any role in the child's life subsequent to conception. If his own values compel him to be part of the child's life that is not the woman's fault.
