Yep, like say the 'limit' is 5 mins. If there is a 30 second buffer, you technically can keep speaking until 5 min 30.

If you speak over the time then you have marks deducted.
Has always worked like that.

Same if you're under the time limit.

this makes fuck all sense. points deducted if you're over AND under the time limit? bullshit. there would be leeway, even if it is only ten seconds.

unless your school has less of a time limit and more of a time frame, like if it is something like "four and a half to five minutes". then the leeway is already given to you.

normally for us it gives a range. Like 4-5 mins.
under 4 and you will get marks dedected and after 5 mins the teachers tells you to stop even if you're midway through a sentence.

I think it's better that way. Thinking of 4 as the min and 5 as the absolute max.

No point in arguing or contradicting him, everyone on the forum knows he is full of shit.

Usually there is a +/- 10% buffer eg a "5 minute" speech can go between 4minutes and 30 seconds and 5 minutes and 30 seconds without attracting a marking penalty.

my school warns you then stops you i am not sure of the times though
