    Latham or Howard?

The IRA topic started in past-tense. I was pointing out that any activities done by groups using the IRA name would have been equalled, easily, by British actions in Ireland. I did not mean incidents such as civilian bombings recently by the RIRA, sorry for the confusion.

    Latham or Howard?

Groups using the IRA name have committed what could be classified terrorist attacks, no doubt, but on the whole, I'm sure good ol' Britannia has committed more atrocities that were 'terrorist' over the years, no doubt again.

    Latham or Howard?

I haven't read much of this thread, but the way I see it is: We are doomed to be lead by idiocy, in a culture that day by day further advocates stupidity. Ahh, if only humanity had once collective throat to bash in.

I always see the main part of peoples problem with Tolkein is the singing etc.? I never understand this, I would love to live in a world where there were is no body-consciousness, or media-generated 'cool'. If I tried to walk down the street singing merriliy, I would get thrown in a...

    dude wheres my country?

I enjoy his books, sometimes. But you must read them as humour, rather than a in-depth political analysis. I think he even fucked himself up once in an interview, when asked if his books were meant to be humurous or political. If you enjoy Moore, you should check out Pilger or...

Contest by Matthew Reilly (Matthew Reilly thread)

Yes, I really like Reilly. I picked up Ice Station and Contest 2 weeks ago at the book exchange (my favourite place :D), and have read them both. I thought they were very good.

    The Political Spectrum..

The -4.75 no doubt comes from my collectivist beliefs, although I must stress I am not Marxist, Stalinist or any such form.

    The Political Spectrum..

Not the best test, as I don't really think my political beliefs can be classed left/right, as they differ, and I do not hold one ideal. Economic Left/Right: -4.75 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 1.95

    1984 - What's YOUR opinion? Rate here!!!

Yes, you are correct. All government boils down to control, and yes, I believe some times it has to be necessary to silence minorities who act in a way that is negative to the majority, especially during a transitional stage. But eventually, there would be no need for dissent. There will...

    1984 - What's YOUR opinion? Rate here!!!

Exactly what I was talking about. If someone is communist, it doesn't mean they are Stalinist, the same applies here. I, and many other totalitarians get hit with this sort of stuff all the time, aswell as "You're a fascist who wants to control people's minds" blah blah blah. Art and...

    1984 - What's YOUR opinion? Rate here!!!

I should have made myself a bit clearer, sorry Gregor Samsa. The aspects you mentioned - I in know way advocate. I am totalitarian, although I avoid that term due to the connotations that come with it. I do not believe in oppression, propaganda and other things associated with these...

    1984 - What's YOUR opinion? Rate here!!!

I like 1984, BNW, and also Starship Troopers, because they (in parts) depict how I envision a perfect society.
