    cofa, sca or uts?

    well you can do jewellery as your major at cofa if you do a b.fine arts, except from what i've heard (i never actually took jewellery when i was there) it's all metal and experimental stuff...in fact i don't even think i ever saw anything the jewellery majors produced...go to the final...

    Anyone going to COFA in 2006?

    of the 2 years i spent transporting between kenso and cofa i never once used the shuttle bus cos it always came at inconvenient times! so i relied on the state transit buses- walk up to taylor square-ish area (where the giant set of traffic lights are, and turn left, there's a bus stop, and you...

    Music 1 and some related questions

    like i said before, the only thing that's going to get put at the end of your name is a BA and B.Med or whatever it's called- you either have the degree or you don't! the only difference i think would be is that you do less arts subjects than a full-time arts student (which is not a big deal)...

    Music 1 and some related questions

    ah don't worry about the song you just make it like 2 seconds long, and most people can't sing anyway! i'm sure the BA would be worth something, like you get the degree so it's not going to be any less than a normal BA- it's like combining arts with any other degree! in fact people would...

    Music 1 and some related questions

    ok well i can only speak for UNSW (which is not a bad place to be for music!)- for our auditions you just have to play a couple of pieces and sing an unaccompanied song, then do this really random aural and theory test which is dead easy- the whole thing is just a formality just so they know you...

    music tutoring?

    ahh i don't think so- what year are they in? cos i only really know ppl who are in 3rd yr this year lol i kinda wish i'd auditioned for the con but couldn't be bothered cos i love unsw and got enough UOC's to mash my degree into 3yrs! however i must confess the con is the bomb, i regularly...

    B Fine Arts / B Arts

    glad i was of some help- like you will learn stuff, just not in your major if it happens to be painting!! you'll learn heaps in printmaking- etching is really good and i quite enjoyed screenprinting too- cos you work on your printing technique and thus i was learning something new. and like i...

    B Fine Arts / B Arts

    ok well this is how i saw it. if you take a drawing elective or any elective, you might learn about something. however in your actual drawing/painting major class (from 2nd semester on- 1st yr session 1 is random, and 2nd year gets worse) basically you get a few assessments in which you have to...

    everyone's off wanting maths and english tutoring...well screw that i was wondering if anyone needs help with music? cos i'm so up to tutoring that- been doing BA music at UNSW now transferred to B.MusicB.Education. So if you do need any help (i think i can help with most things) then PM me...

    B Fine Arts / B Arts

    i just did 2 years of the wonderous BFA/BA and just have transfered to Music education because i hated it!! but no fear, that was my own personal dislike with the way they teach the painting major. basically if you hate doing random experimentation and not learning a thing about developing your...

    music

    i did MUSC1101 (music reinvented) despite the whole recommended from music2 students cos i was probably capable of doing that anyway, and had just done grade 8 piano and grade 5 theory so... but from what i gathered the music fundamentals class was like an intro to aural and theory and stuff...

    anybody applying for COFA - 2004?

    basically they cut out half the classes from your fine arts course, so like in session 1 instead of doing 2 lots of electives eg. painting/drawing/printmaking and sculpture/time-based/whatever the 2rd one is, you only get to pick one set, so if you don't know what you want to major in then...

    music peoples and their UAI's!!

    well last year i got 92 for mus1- my best mark- my lowest being maths ext1 with 80, and some of my other subjects weren't great supposed scalers- ancient history, art, then maths and english adv- but i ended getting 92.75 so can't say scaling affected me all too much. my assessment mark for...

    Music = crap UAI

    oh sorry no i didn't mean that at all. yeah what ujuphleg said. but what i meant in that last sentence was referring to people who might not even play an intrument or have any knowledge of music at all still can enjoy music, not musicologists and composers (hell i'll pick musicology over...

    Music = crap UAI

    i'll say. how can you say that if you're not gifted at a subject then it's a waste of time doing? there is such a thing as pure interest, and whethere or not you're the best at it you can do a subject just to learn about it. and that's for every subject out there, be it music, maths, science...

    Music = crap UAI

    bah it's all rubbish i tell you. i did music 1 and got 92 for it and my assessment mark was scaled up 3 marks from what it originally was and i got 92.75 for my uai so i don't see any scaling down there, and most my other subjects weren't great scalers either. the whole thing is absolute rubbish

    the 6 concepts....

    hey all i finished last year and have put my old music aural notes on the boredofstudies notes section and i was very proud of them (they were originally very colourful :D ) and were pretty helpful for me, so hopefully they'll help you too. and if you ever need any help i'm happy to, just PM me...

    Bachelor of music courses

    ummm well from the impression i got from the actual music students, in semester 1 they had a performance class which has some sort of musicology or composition elective in it i think. and then there was a musicology class which i did cos that's what the arts students do. and then they may have...
