It was 30 mins unless you can free run over buildings and fences :p
I called tpg just now and complained how their slow upload speed "will hinder my university education when sending large e-mails". fucking kunts.
maybe you should've learned some parkour then!

Riproot, what plan are you on? My best is around:

My plan is $40 a month, 20GB peak and 20GB off-peak, though it was a 24 month plan which expired around a year ago...
~$50, 50BG/50GB, afaik

It's pretty shit. Primus is awful.
I have nbn so it should be better!!!

Yeah Primius sucks so bad...it's a pity my parents aren't that tech-savvy, as there are cheaper and faster plans out there :(
Yeah, my current place of residence has shit net ISPs atm because it's just new.

But the speed is supposed to be 50Mbps/20Mbps

Too bad we're locked in for 2 years though... :/

First of all i actually live out west so i'm 40 minutes on a train away from the CBD so that has nothing to do with it, there are numerous reasons for differences in speed which i will list below lol.

1. I use cable, it's faster than ADSL and speed is independent of exchange distance. That would be the reason for most peoples slower speeds.
2. There are a LOT of dodgy exchanges around and the ISPs either don't care or don't know. Look it up, there is no shortage of posts about whole neighbourhoods getting slower speeds than they should be.
3. I dont use wifi on my pc. My dad has set up our network at home so there are no speed bottlenecks - the router and all the swiches + cables are all capable of gigabit speeds.
4. Simply being on a full speed plan isn't neccesarily enough, you need a fast modem. When we upgraded our plan (used to get ~20mbps) Optus also made us buy a new modem since the oldschool motorola surfboard (that was playing up and mostly the reason we upgraded) was not capable of high speeds. Optus should have made sure you have the right modem for the plan but i wouldn't be surprised if some people don't.
I think if anything, living in the CBD makes it worse as there's that many more people using the same bandwidth (at least on ADSL2). I'm on the one exchange which services Pyrmont and Sydney and it's chockers- the only ISP willing to sign me up at the time was TPG. Telstra/Optus/iPrimus/iinet, etc all said no spots available.

Wow it gets faster in the evening too. Can't believe I was stuck with Vodafone for so long which in it's prime was about 10.58Mbps at 2am.

Paying $80 a month and live in town (not rural). FML. Complained to Telstra and all we get is some silly Indian bitch blaming it on our $200 router (upgraded like 3 months ago) because its not distributed by Telstra (which are far, far worse might I add - been there). This was also be considered a 'good' day, it wouldn't be uncommon to see dl speeds of 0.6. It's weird though, for a few months it stayed up round 3-5mbps and then boom straight back to where we started.

I love my wifi speed with my new router. Even my old 2007 iMac is getting these results which make Steam a breeze to download/install games!

I tested this afternoon when no one was home and my download speed was above 100 but now everyone's home and using the internet so the results are under 100 now. I'm still happy with my internet though.
