No.

Of course she is entitled to her opinion however bewildering/idiotic it may seem!!!!
Any opinion that isn't your own can seem idiotic, however just because Ay0 doesn't want to sleep with a random guy every 2 months doesn't make her opinion any less sane than yours...

Well I just find it odd that you hold such a strong view upon the rest of life, having already changed it before.
Strong views are the ones that are the last to fall. The reason I changed it before is because my prior viewwas held when I was a virgin and clueless about a lot of things including the effects of sex on ME.

I now take this chance to reiterate that I don't care how much casual sex you all have, and I respect all your decisions kk it only matters to me when a serious relationship is on the cards.

I know that, but sexual ethics 90% of the time are based on religious belief, since "promiscuity" doesn't really hurt people. If someone were to ask me "why are you celibate" I'd pretty much say "no fucking clue m8 but it's not changing anytime soon".
You don't know why you're celibate, but you know it's not going to change. I don't know how you can have such strong views on these things, based upon, well, you don't know.

I think you should not set yourself up for disappointment.

This.

You're pretty much denying yourself the chance to actually think about your views because, since they're based on pretty much nothing, you know they'll change.

There's obviously something deeper going on with you that you don't want to explore. Living in denial, it's a bitch.

Lol. How's this for deeper?

i) I will not be able to enjoy sex unless it's with someone I care about. And with someone who cares about me.

ii) It takes a lot for me to care about somebody. And then a lot more to convince me they care for me an equal amount.

And so I remain celibate. I can appreciate that i) is based on nothing more than gut instinct, which doesn't hold up too well in argument, and emotions, which are even less subject to rationality.

Will either one change? No, I don't think so, because it would take the very fundamentals of my behaviour changing, to make that happen.

kthxbye

I'm not about to deny the power of religion. Pretty stupid. I don't know any people who were raised atheists and hold as conservative view to sex as atheists who were raised religious. My views are obviuosly not directed to anybody who is asexual or simply does not enjoy sex because I don't fall into either category and neither do most peopple. Most people who enjoy sex have it, most people who don't, don't. Etc.

So then say that you are surprised you hold conservative beliefs in regard to sex when you are otherwise quite liberally-minded. Don't turn it into a religious thing; you are unwittingly categorising people in all aspects of their life according to one set of beliefs.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to avoid sex if you have decided it's not something you can handle at present (for a lot of people it's not just fucking and it can fuck with emotions, etc.)

Don't let anyone tell you that you're narrow-minded or wrong or not experiencing things fully just because you have made that decision.

I am extraordinarily thankful that I didn't become sexually active until I was older as I now know it would've caused me more harm than good at a younger age.

The funny thing is, I literally have made notches on my bedpost to record sexual encounters. Not even joking. :s

How many is a lot though?

Afterall a one night stand every couple of months doesn't sound like much but over a couple of years (say undergrad at uni) could add up to say 18 one night stands which then sound sliike a lot...
i guess. fifteen would probably be my max and even then i'd be a bit bleargh about it.

To me, if you find someone you truly love and they love you equally, then how many people they've slept with previously is deemed irrelevant.

Imo, you shouldn't give up the chance of a lifetime of happiness because of something comparitively trivial.

I'm more surprised by the fact that the first thing people think of after having sex is cutting a notch into their bedpost XP
