nope. Hardly anyone tries in prelim. I was coming 1st for a subject in prelim, now I'm 13th :( This is because most people lift their game in year 12. Doing well in assessments is probably the most important thing in year 12

nope not at all, generally the top students will stay around the top but that doesn't mean that average/poor students can move up

Year 12 results reflect on the effort you put in, if you keep putting in more effort into chemistry (more than last year), I'm pretty sure any rank is achievable. It's all about the time and dedication you are willing to place on the subject. Just keep calm and study throughout the weeks for the next year and you should be fine.

Generally not. But the kids that work hard in year 11 tend to work harder in year 12 so that really top calibre of students tend to stay the same (its probably a trend I've noticed at my school though, not sure about others).

It's all in the amount of effort you and everyone else in your cohort puts in. Just put in as much effort as you can to try to maximise your ATAR :)

Touche, I knew a guy who did his whole prelim english assignment on a train and achieve 17>/20. While I took 1-2 weeks and got like 15. Needless to say, I thought the whole faculty was bullsh*t.
