i failed my first task for physics and will most likely fail prelims (yearly exam)

the NESA person at my school (idk the name of their role) said that to proceed into yr 12 i need to have achieved at least a 51% in every course,
now my physics teacher will most likely not N-award me for it bc 1. im putting in the effort in class (not at home but he doesnt know that) and 2. i have completed all requirements for nesa for this subject: course work, due diligence and submissions of assessment tasks on time

i thought it was fine and i will continue to yr 12 but my friend got into my head saying since i failed and my average (so far) is a fail im not gonna continue in yr 12, i argued back that the only reason u get held back is due to n-awards not being completed/resolved but she disagreed

anyways, will i need to repeat yr 11 bc i failed physics even if i dont have any n-awards?

and before some random idiot comments abt me failing physics instead of answering my question, im failing bc for the whole of term 1 i did 15 units and balanced all my subjects (were i didnt get below 80% for anything) but totally forgot abt physics bc we dont get hw and i have physics maximum 3 times a week

and for at3 we haven done module 4 and the teacher set it as 'individual study' and im the type of person to study in a classroom setting and not by myself (i cant do it) and module 4 is gonna be in the exam

Hello jane1820,

I can't be certain, but I'm pretty sure there are students in my software class that didn't get 51% or above in year 11.
So I don't think so? I can't be 100% certain but at least at my school, I don't think this is a thing.

hope this help,

nah they can't make u repeat. And I'm sure lots of people fail courses and still continue on

this is what i thought too, lets just hope its not true
bc as i said i only know that n-awards limit a students progression and not their grades, but yh its just my friend got in my head

im pre sure u need 3 n awards to fail the subject, and also like if ur putting in the effort i dont think thats n award worthy its only if u dont try u get an n award

like my friend for eng im pre sure legit has a failing avg but i dont think hes ever gotten an n award becauses hes always made an attempt even jf its just one paragraph

so like i think u should just go with what u thoughth before ur friend said anything bc imo that makes more sense… its not like u drew a picture for ur physics exam like that would be probably be a n award

I literally failed 3u maths last year, but they didn't hold me back. They wouldn't hold you back unless you literally did nothing! It's less to do with your academic grade, more so that N-awards are given to people who don't attempt their assessments/coursework to a sufficient standard (e.g only doing multiple choice in an exam or just drawing pictures instead of completing your exam).
