I hope coming 8th out of 95 students in Standard English in my Yearly Exams was worth it, if that was the case.
A lot of English Standard students are n00bs (in my school that is), so I'm not surpised partially.

On the other hand the English Advanced cohort are rewarded more marks because they are undertaking more intensive work.

You spell "is" with a "z" and you wonder why you dont do well in english? Spelling it "iz" isn't even abbreviating, it would take just as much effort to write is!
could it be a typing error ? I mean he did correctly type it once.

The reason why it is really hard to get a band six in standard english because there is a cap on the maximum mark you can get. This is to stop the really brilliant students who should be doing advanced from doing standard and getting 100%

If you look at the quality of the essays as well, you can see a huge difference between standard and advanced. However, the quality of standards have been rising, so there are increasing numbers. However, the marking of the paper have also gotten tougher!
