Why do people do the asian 6 when there's a better option for scaling? (1 Viewer)

The asian 5 is done with the intent of maximising atar scaling, but wouldn't doing 4 unit math, 4 unit english and physics give you the highest scaling?

Have to sit the Advanced Paper no matter what. (For english)

3U/4U English don't play to their strengths as well.

Never heard of an Asian 6.

Asian 4 - Adv Eng, MX1, MX2, Physics and Chemistry.

Asian 5 - Asian 4 + either Biology or Economics.

EE1 is rare and EE2 is like even more so :haha:

Yes... But it might play to their English tutor's strengths, no?

:haha:

yep thats definitely the asian 4, although one variant is
English Adv, Ext 1/2 Maths, 2-3 from Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, [Business Studies] (no did Physics and Biology though)

(no one in my year did standard)

Asian 3 for year 9/10: commerce, IST/Electronics/IPT, Engineering

Business is definitely not 'Asian' :haha: (scaling isn't that great)

Was my best HSC subject though~

commerce and IST combo in Years 9 & 10 :haha: (Engineering if you could choose a 3rd elective)

That will actually give you an ATAR of 0 because you need at least 4 subjects to be eligible for an ATAR in the first place

then again depends on the school (I happen to have gone to the same school as you, just the year below)
well definitely ext 2, chem and physics are popular, something like 4 classes of ext 2 (about 40% of the year), one of them had to be taken by deputy principal in the morning for ext 2.
I did music, IST, Japanese in year 9/10. Then again I'm not asian.
