In year 11... I dropped all three units of maths down to NO MATHS whatsoever on the basis that I hated it.

Considering I had Band 6 in the School Cert, and I had got great awards in Mathematics, I just want to know if I had done something stupid as to drop maths completely simply because I didn't enjoy it despite talent.

So lets see why the rest of you kept maths for...

heh band 6 ... every tom, dick and harry got a band 6... my friends who loathe maths and did none for yr 11 got high 90's.... so SC has nothing to do with it.

Why do maths?
Maths is quite simply, the best subject.

I enjoy maths, but lack motivation due to my teacher and her attitude to class. But maths is a pre-requisite for a lot of university courses - although you can do bridging courses i suppose if you want to get into one of these courses?

Yes, considering my maths marks are gonna end up like 8-9 higher than most of my other subjects.

I did maths because:
a) it's a challenge
b) I enjoy it
c) I do well at it

I dropped from 3u in 11 to 2u simply because I really couldn't stand maths, but I hated physics MUCH more, so I dropped the physics and kept maths, my aim at the end was to pick up ext history and drop Chem, once more cause I hate(d) it more than maths!

srsly, for me, maths is a sinch, particularly the easier points of course. doing 3unit until the trials kinda helped :p, but yeah as ive said before im all about rules and formulae, so maths is my cuppa coffee (i dont like tea :p)

Einstein never failed maths, he was quite gifted at it.

What happened was in his final year of school, they reversed the marking system, so that what was top mark became bottom mark and vice versa (I think they used a scale of 1-6). He did fail an entrance exam to university but that was to do with his French, but he did take the test at 16, two years earlier then normal and went to that university two years later.
