Well there is two days left (three if you are waiting for the letter), I might as well ask this. Who actually sits down and go through the selection process? Lecturers themselves of a Faculty, people higher in the Faculty or the admin people? The only thing I remember was that it also has to gain the academic board approval.

Well in most courses, it's actually the selection officer who goes through the list of applicants and short list them depeding on wat other criteria that are needed to be assessed e.g . interview, portfolio etc. Then the he or she chooses the students they deem appropriate and send it off to the coordinator or the head of the course and requires their final approval.

If you gained the interview and presented a portfolio and this was successful, where did it end if you didn't get the final selection? The head?

Well it stays with the selection officer till next round of offers e.g 2nd round or on the waiting list. If there's are students who reject their offer in the first round or those who choose to defer, then the selction officer will start to choose the students that miss out in the first round but again deem appropriate for the next round. Again the head need to verified the approval of the selection officer for these students.
