hey guys,

I'm in a bit of a dilemma- I study law and commerce (Finance) and have transferred which has stuffed up the order I can take units in- I am more inclined to enter into law than commerce .

Anyway I have to choose 1 300 level finance unit to do this semester (D2). I have been advised that I can most likely get an exemption to complete any of those units as I will be doing the last 200 level unit for my finance major in this coming semester- ECON204.

I am doing 2 quite difficult law units, and I heard ECON204 is quite difficult so I am trying to choose something which is easy as I want good marks by this time next year as this is when I'll be applying for LAW Summer Clerkships. note- next year i'll be doing 4x law units per semester and I'll complete my commerce in my 6th year.

Anyway can someone please tell me how difficult FIN328 is? it is a capstone unit so i'm a little hesitant to do it now before I have done any other 300 level units. I enjoy ECON units more than Accg units however if one is really easy then i would do it.

So with all that said can you please rate the following units on how difficult they are and how difficult they would be without having done ECON204. (Note- I will be doing ECON335 and ECON350 in 1st sem 6th year as they are easy!)

ACCG350
ACCG352
ACCG353
ECON360
FIN328

thanks alot.

Which law subjects are you doing? Good luck with clerkship applications.

If you'd consider ECON 335 and 350 to be easy then you might also find 360 to be okay since those 3 subjects are all the same 'style'. Also, have you seen my thread on ACCG352/353? If not, you should check that out. (from what I can tell, you might want to steer clear of 353)

And I know absolutely nothing about ACCG350 and FIN328.

hey guys,

just to reply- I am actually doing the following units-
LAW315
LAW317
ECON204

and the final 1 I am still deciding. i just did ACCG252 and found it okay except for the exam- I finished with a 62 which I was happy with considering the very low average for the unit.

I have seen the other thread- I'm leaning towards ECON360.

Is LAW315 still a final essay rather than exam? Equity will be good, is Shayne still teaching the subject?

sup op, i'm doing econ204 this semester as well and i can tell you that econ203 is harder than 204. Have you done accg329? Sice you said you hate finance i would suggest you to stay away from accg329 (if you havent done that yet) and accg352/353 and just do the econ units.

But if want to do accg352/353, then do the following:

If accg352 then do accg329 first
If accg353 no need to do accg329 first, but i say revise accg252 since you only got 62

Nope LAW315 has a closed book final exam- although im pretty sure u can take in 2x A4 pages.

Equity is now taught by Peter Radan although Shaynes lecture notes are on blackboard atm so maybe he uses them.

Yeah i know econ204 is easier than 203 so im definately doing that.

Im doing econ360. I like finance I just found 252 hard although I think everyone I spoke to found it hard and the fail rate for it apparently jumped up from 20% to around 30%.

The average for the mid-sem was 51% as opposed to previous semesters where it had been 55%+ . While this may not seem like alot it tells you that regardless- this is a hard unit.
