isn't the way english studied in china rather different, as in they focus on memorising words.

haha ol'-fashion Chinese are such studious freaks... three verbs in chinese for study, each with different timeframe:

预 xi - study in preparation
练 xi - study in exercise
复 xi - study in revision

edit: pinyin because char won't display

as Darth Vader may have said, resistance is futile.

instant disownership, loss of inheritance, thrown out of house since no responsibility of care after age of 18.

a typical convo between me and my dad:

dad: ok i heard you want to do [Action X]. i've considered it, and i don't allow it because it involves [Reason Y] and [Possible Consequence Z] which are unsafe. stay home.

me: so can we negotiate to a mutual compromise?

dad: ok, we'll negotiate.

*dad bursts into my room with a shotgun, blows a hole through the gyprock, i get scared shitless and cower to the floor with hands on head*

dad: (*impersonating Bruce Willis*) anyone else wanna negotiate?

nah srsly, a typical convo is like this:

me: please?
dad: no

*end of negotiations*
