i have read the book and seen both versions of the film, i find it is hard to not to be emotionalli sympathetic for the male protagonist... and its indeed clever of the composers to add characterisation and emotions so that we actualli align ourselves with a padedophile.....wot are ur thoughts?

and btw i think lolita is a hell of a slut.. but some pplz say she is young and hence she doesnt know wot she is doing..but still....

i find it one of the most intersting books..cuz it clearly demonstrates how the author is not dead..ie: there is a relationship between the author and the reader...... like i have said before.. it is amazing how we acutalli align ourselves with a padeophile, all be it through character positioning and psychology

It's an interesting film, but I didn't get the end of the part where the guy was shooting some other guy with blood dripping everywhere...weird...

well this millionaire is using lolita as a child pornstar..... the *father* totalli blew it and went to the millionaire's house and shot him.... basicallli the millionaire has appeared thruought the film......he was the silloutte guy when lolita was at the skool play... he was also at the reception lounge of where the *father* and lolita were staying... lolita was palying with the millionarie's dog if u recall.... and when he went to get bannnas.. the father came bk and found lolita wearing his shirt with lip stick msudged all over her face.... basiclali lolita had sex with the millionaire while he was out.. basicalli throughout lolita's replationship, the millionaire has always being there..........

oh forget about the movies it's the book that is important people

i really enjoyed the book.. i've read it a few times over cos the first time i hated it, 2ndtime i warmed to it and third time round i appreciate it a lot more. i agree truly in that it is hard not to be sympathetic for humbert, and i do believe the feelings he has for lolita ARE love, no matter how twisted it is, i think thats really the beauty of the book. i know people who couldn't get past the whole "eww!! peadophilia!" thing while they were reading it, but to me that shouldn't be foregrounded in anyone's reading of it .. i mean yeah, of course acknowledge it, but it's about so much more than that i think

yeah v true... esp when they include the history of humbert... lyk his past love.. i think he newwest veriosn of the 2 films does it particularlay well.. the overexposed shots and the innocent colours brings out our sympathy.....

and yeah in many respect his feelings for lolita are real.... i totalli believe that.... butalso vewiing it with his past history, it makes u think whether his love is for his past love, or true luv for lolita... its almost like ocmpeltling somehting he has not finished.... and feeling up a void that scarred his childhood....

to meeh the book has dichotomous feel to it.. on one side u get this beautiful however perverted by still innocent love, juxtaposed against this dark message abt child porn.... i think it is because of the dark, humbert's love for lolita becomes soo innocent, there is no planning, money making, it's just pure love.... this is v clever of the composer, because by not only adding psychology into humbert... the composer also contrasts his love against soemthign that is corrupt, hence almost justifying humbert's love as just that, not peadophilia... as if saying... the real enemy is not padeohilia, it is this dark child porn trade....
