i failed soft 1001 as part of my electrical engineering :( and was wondering what usually happens? do i just repeat it next semester? and if so what happens to the the subject that i'm supposed to do next semester (soft 1002)?

on another note on the myuni thing its says i'm enrolled for soft 1002 (which i did at the beginning of the year) and its on my timetable but i don't understand why i have been allowed to enrol for it seeing as though i failed soft 1001 and soft 1002 requires a pass of better as a prerequisiste (sp?). can anyone explain this?

thanks

looks like you can repeat 1001 this coming semester, do 1002 first semester next year, then 2130 2nd semester next year, and you'll have caught up.

I wouldn't rely on getting away with doing 1002 this semester, they might not check pre-req's until the census date, when itl be too late to pick other units instead.

you can ask the faculty for permission to do both soft1001 and 1002 next semester if your mark is close and/or you can prove that you will try hard.

yeah thanks i might just do this but then i'll have to overload later / delay the finish of my degree, because by doing soft1001 in first semester next year i'll miss out on something else. i don't want to do the latter so i was wondering when i can / should overload (i heard u can't in first year.)

if this helps heres the subject outline

You can still do SOFT1002 even if you fail SOFT1001. I think that's the case for most units of study.

Actually you can't do SOFT 1002 if you failed SOFT 1001 since SOFT 1001 is a pre-req and if you failed 1001 then you are going to struggle doing 1002 i know this since i have done both these courses.
Just do SOFT 1001 next semester as someone suggested and ur lucky cause if u do soft 1001 next sem and soft 1002 next year sem1 then you can catch up unlike the way the used to have it.
GL with soft 1001!

THis is what i recommend:
Replace SOFT 1002 with SOFT 1001 in sem 2 this year.
For year 2 Sem1 do SOFT 1002 instead of ELEC 2103 (did the old version, its alright) and keep everythign as it is esp. sem 2 i wouldn't recommend overloading when u are doing Jim's ELEC 2602 and Yash's ELEC 2302.
In year three Sem 1 overload and do the delayed ELEC 2103.

Mejc, thanks sooo much for your help!!!

about soft1002, when i tried to update my "enrolment variations," i wasn't allowed to enrol in soft1002 because i didn't meet the prerequisites, so one cannot enrol in soft1002 without completing soft1001.

EDIT: does ELEC1103 have any prerequisites? according to the handbook it doesn't but on the enrolment thing it says "ELEC1103 has a prerequisite warning"
