In all seriousness, wouldn't you UWS students like to go to a uni where you don't constantly have to defend its reputation?

I think it is the acceptance of basically anyone to UWS that puts the campus down. They allow 80 ATAR's for law and 50 ATAR's for degrees like social science. The others aren't so accepting. That is why people don't want to go there. I don't think it has anything to do with facilities at all.

Nah, I can handle it. And I would only ever have to do that on BOS, since IRL, most people keep their opinions to themselves.

I am yet to see what the big deal is about UWS being a trashy, shithole uni that is close to the equivalent of tafe. Personally I think it's decent, no social life whatsoever but the Campbelltown campus is great and I actually prefer not having old, decrepit hogwarts buildings.
So what's all the whinging about it being a shithole for?
ummm don't go bagging tafe as you are stating that UWS isn't what idiots say it is...you are just being hypocritical...

you can't judge a uni or tafe based upon its students...thats like judging a sports team based upon its fans

To UWS students:

If you made it into USyd or UNSW, would you have still chosen UWS?
Judging purely on psych, maybe UNSW but not USyd. I live an hour away from my campus as it is, travelling to Kensington would have been hell on earth.

ETA: I received offers to both Mac and UWS for BA.

I had 98.7 ATAR in last years HSC, so I could have done med sci at syd or at UNSW, as my goal was to get into med but my preference was to get into UWS MBBS (5 years, heaps of clinical exposure), and when doing med after first year, unis tend to favor thier own students so thats why I chose adv sci at UWS, also UNSW and USyd are further for me in terms of travel than UWS. Also if my eventual goal is med then it really wont matter what uni i come from, as its not like they have far too many doctors and specialists in this state.

You mean judging a sports team based on its players?
no...because the teachers ability and knowledge at unis, high schools and tafe arent based upon the students who go there...

aka...

just because a sports team may have fuckwit fans (the students) doesnt mean the players (teachers) are bad...

aka...

just because there are heaps of lebos and dropkicks at certain unis and tafe...doesnt mean the standard is lower

ATAR requirements aren't based on how hard a degree is (usually), they're indicative of how many people want to get into the course. So I guess the more people trying to get into say USYD Law, the higher the required ATAR will be.

I see what you're saying. But I think you mean judging a team based on its coaches (being the teachers). The students represent the school as a players represent a team. They're both taught/coached, whether they perform well also relies on them not being total fuckwits.

Personally, I'm going to put up with the dropkicks who get into uni and then leave after the first 3 months at UWS. I'd prefer to have the extra time not spent travelling to myself or study.

Yes, $20 grand scholarship and masters and honours after 4 years.

About half my physio course got high enough for USyd but chose uws on those 2 reasons and closeness to home.
Hahaha the UWS Grand Scholarship is only $20?

UWS was admittedly a last resort option back at the HSC, but soon I started enjoying the relaxed learning environment and watched my high school mates struggle with their workload. Not to mention the hours pw are less, and the campus is an easy 15 min drive from home (absolutely hate public transport). Now three and a half years later I'm getting ready to graduate and have a better paying job, with better career prospects, than most of my UNSW/USYD friends.
I guess uni is what you make of it, better reputation/resources aren't gonna do jack to your marks. Of course if you can handle it that's great, I'd rather take it easy :).

Yes, in the end it will come down to your own individual efforts.

No you fool, $20 grand ($20,000) is what I wrote. And the big one is $50,000.

People are stupid.
I was making a joke. It is a 20 grand scholarship, not a $20 grand scholarship.
