Hi so I wanted your guys' input before I make a decision during round 1 offers. so basically I am aiming to do law/commerce at unsw next year but if i dont get into law straight away i was thinking of doing commerce and then doing a transfer. But I am not good at maths at all, i didnt do math in my senior years. So I was wondering what type of subjects do you do in the first year of commerce or, like, the early months. Since I'm going to have to get a 80-90 wam for law i need to know if that will be achievable in commerce, especially when math is not my speciality. im planning on majoring in hr or something similar.

unsw commerce has a set of IFYS (Introductory first year courses) which everyone has to complete. I do a double degree wherein some of these IFYS overlap with my other degree's courses and hence, i dont have to do all. I would suggest if ur aiming to transfer to comm/law, see if there are any IFYS that dont need to be completed and hence when ur doing just commerce in ur first year, you can skip that course and do another one instead. also, the order in which u do them across the terms doesn't matter. I'll give u a basic rundown of all the ones I've done...
COMM1110: Excel based, a lot of statistical maths involved.
COMM1120: no maths, only advice is do this with ur friends as most of the course is based on group work.
COMM1140: Maths involved, accounting and finance based intro course. Most of it is linked to HSC business studies, and most of the maths is sort of the financial maths you would do in high school.
COMM1170: No maths involved
COMM1180: A lot of maths, financial maths based.
COMM1190: im yet to do this but from what ive heard, U dont actually do that much maths but the content is based on data and stats, and you have to code on R.

There is also COMM1100 and COMM1150, but i didnt need to do those...
