… I’ve noticed many people here asking for UAI estimates, and I was wondering if someone could help me out with mine. I’ve heard too many things about SAM being inappropriate for UAI calculation because of mark- alignment etc. But just another opinion would be really helpful :) . Thankyou.

Mathematics 2 unit
Final School Assessment Mark= 71.4
Trial Mark= 53 (very difficult independent paper... hopefully mid80s in HSC)
Rank= 6/40

Legal Studies
Final School Assessment Mark= 89.1
Trial Mark= 88
Rank= 2/33

Modern History
Final School Assessment Mark= 90
Trial Mark= 90
Rank= 3/29

Economics
Final School Assessment Mark= 86.6
Trial Mark= 80 (I stuffed up my trial... unbalanced study, i got 87 in my halfyearly)
Rank= 2/19

Advanced English
Final School Assessment Mark= 87.1
Trial Mark= 88
Rank= 2/18

English Extension One
Final School Assessment Mark= 46.85
Trial Mark= 48/50= 96
Rank= 1/3

I’m quite worried about what maths will do to my UAI if I get band4 or lower :(
... what is the probability of engext and just one unit of maths contributing to my UAI? Thanks again :) .

Thanks...

I'm not sure how great my school is... our highest UAI last year was 98.2, we only had 24 people on the merit list with 40 band 6s. There are like 30 people in my grade who do really well and want to do really well... and then there are 200 others who are just... lazy. Why does school ranking matter... I thought that was the old system? Or is it because of marking schemes? Because our school still marks us very hard with difficult assessment tasks... almost all my teachers are HSC markers for the subject they teach. Thankyou again :) .

Can anyone else give me an estimate as well? What would happen if I got high band4 for maths, and then band6 for everything else?

The school ranking doesn't actually matter, your state ranking does, but by telling poeple how your school is going gives them a more accurate depiction of your ranks.

Like, if you ranked 10/20 at a school where nobody gets Band 6's in anything, that would be viewed very differently than a rank 10/20 at James Ruse. School rank just makes a clearer illustration where you would rank in the state roughly.

... cool. Thankyou for your help :) . I thought so, that's why I started talking about my teachers and marking schemes...
