Hi all,

I'm searching for a good maths tutoring college for Year 12 Mathematics Ext. 1 (and possibly Chemistry).
And please don't suggest Dr. Du- I've had enough of the moneygrubber.
I've browsed through BoS for some around Hurstville: Harry's, The Brain, James An etc.

Which is the best, you reckon? I'd value patience in teaching and being able to ask questions (and not chocked-up classes, for goodness's sake).

Thanks! (please list their pros and cons, if you know any) :)

If Harry's in HUrstville is anything like the one in Burwood - the class sizes are pretty big. He is a really good teacher, you do get the oppountunity to ask questions and stuff, but one bad thing I've found is that you have to be self motivated to do hw. The class sizes in my opinion are too big at Burwood though... I might considering stopping Harry's.

Where exactly is The Brain located? I'm curious as google doesn't churn out anything discernible...

Hey vicki x)

You might want to ask Cindy about Harry's.
I'm pretty sure a few people at our school go to The Brain (not sure who)

From what I've heard, James An is pretty bad, lol.

Hi hi!

With your 13 units, maybe not. Who's your 3U teacher? If you have Horley, you probably don't need a tutor :p

Why specifically do you need tutoring though? Accelerate or just learning concepts. If the latter, private might be better.

Still looking for one?

I've been to the Brain - (for english, not for maths though) but they were really good

location: 2 Rose Street, Hurstville
(basically near James An)

I go to The Brain currently and the Ext.1 teachers there, especially Nathan, are amazing. I'm apart of his extension 2 class for maths and he is ridiculously good.
He's about to come out with his own Ext.2 text book as well :)
I know you can get private or class tuition depending on preference. They are pretty engaged and patient from what your asking.

Yea I did General Maths at the Brain and even for a low ranking subject, the teachers were so involved and engaged in my learning. Also they were like the only tutoring centre to offer it as a subject. I do recommend this centre to others because I feel they need a bit more appreciation for the amount of work they actually put in.

the private lessons they offer for Ext.1 are pretty good at the Brain, as well as the fact the place isn't as dull and sterile as Dr. Du when I was over there.

The Brain is definitely a good Maths alternative. I know their head of maths Nathan is about to come out with a new textbook, so things are really rolling there.

The teachers there are really experienced but also down to earth people, which is something Dr. Du doesn't have lol...

The brain is shit for maths. They just make me want to puke at their atrocious teaching. Go to Harry's for maths-cheaper and better (from memory) or get a private maths tutor
