Is it just me or are trig graphs really difficult? Im pretty okay with everything else but iv had a go at it several times i cant seem to get the hang of it...especially the ones that go 2+sin and so on... Does anyone have any sources that would help me in this area? Any help would be appreciated. Good luck.

y = a+bsin(cx+d) a = shift up the graph by amount a b = amplitude of the graph c = frequency d = how much you shift the graph example y = 3 + 2sin(4x+Pi/2) u start at 3, amplitude is 2 so the graph goes up to a max value of 5 and a min value of 1 4x tells us the graph is 'repeated' 4 times in the 0 -> 2Pi interval the +Pi/2 tells us to shift the graph TO THE LEFT by Pi/2 units.

hey sorry not too sure about sources but i hope this helps

1+asinbx

the a is basically the maximum and minimum of the graph
b is the period or length of the graph. To find this you use a simpl formula 2pi/b

So if you wre asked to sketch 1 + 2cosx:
The maximum would be 2
The minimum would be -2
The period would be 2pi/1 which would equal 2pi (or 360 degrees)
The one is basically saying that the whole graph has been moved up by one unit. This means that the minimum is now -1and the maximum is +3.

To find where the graph crosses the x axis all you hve to do is make 1+ 2cosx=0
