even if you fail a subject, if you have the required gpa/nrsl then they will let you transfer to other courses at other institutions provided you have met the requirements.
what course do you want to transfer into at uts? some courses have other compulsory requirements such as questionnaire and portfoilo etc.

my mate transferred into elec engineering with a gpa of 3 point something.
credit average has a gpa worth 5. It really depends on which engineering stream you choose, but a pass average should be sufficient.

jemsta i sent a letter to uts engineering faculty and then they sent a reply and this is what they said:

" For you application to be considered it needs to meet the UTS admission
requirements, if you are using your current degree, the minimum requirement is
1 year at full time study or equivalent. Which means you need to have completed
the equivalent number of subjects/credit points and also passed them. "

it says you need to pass them all..
so whats that on about?

but then further on they say:

" Applicants with a record of exclusion or failure: If you have a record of
failure or exclusion in your previous studies, you are required to declare
those studies in your UAC application form. In addition, you must submit a
statement directly to UTS, explaining the circumstances relating to the failed
results/exclusion and why you believe you can now succeed at university-level
studies."

i dont get it...

so basically from what theyre telling me, they dont consider your UAI...they only consider at least one year full time tertiary study. But im pretty sure my mate told me he failed a few subjects and still got the transfer though...hmmm

So gathering from the 2nd half of the reply, you have to submit a statement as to why youll think you succeed at studying in UTS, but thats only if you have failed at least one subject.
You could basically just bs the statement saying how family issues were impacting on your studies etc etc.

lol yeh, very true..

but overall im "eligible" for an external transfer...right?

and jemsta for my spring units...doing 4 subjects... what sort of marks will i need to get a credit average..

here are my results:

autumn:

1) Credit
2) Credit
3)Distinction
4)fail

spring:
what marks will i need for my spring subjects?
just a rough idea..
to have a fighting chance for uts?

you would have to peform well in spring for a good chance in transfering but a D average in spring should just about do it for a GPA of 5..pity you failed a subject because your GPA would be pretty good if you just passed it. Which subject is it btw? if its offered in spring just do really well in it to show you have improved in it.

since you failed a subject your gpa for autumn semester is 5+5+6+0/4 = 4 which is a pass average. Youll need a D average for spring semester if youw ant your overall gpa for the year to be credit. But i think credit average for this semester should be sufficient enough for you to get a transfer place to engineering.

im 90% certain that even if you have a pass average that youll be granted a spot. What engineering stream is it?
