Hi, I want to know whether the Bachelor of IT would be able to fetch me the same types of jobs as the commerce degree, minus the accounting.
Also, is there a difference between doing the double degree in Bbus admin and Bcom - prof accounting? Or is it just a waste of one extra year?
Thanks.

Err what?

One deals with computers and information technology solutions, one deals with general business principles and theories (like an arts degree for business related stuff) and the other is for professional accounting. I can't really see how they'd be in anyway similar :\

Agree with AsyLum that the degrees seem a bit different...

What kind of job or industry do you want to get into?

If you want to do accounting as well as IT - you can consider doing a double major in B Commerce with Business Information Systems and Accounting.

As for the choice between the plain B Comm - Accounting or the BBA + B Comm: The BBA gives you a more general/broad understanding of business and how it works, whereas the B Comm lets you major and specialise in an area that you are interested in or want a job in. The extra year of the BBA will give you a different but complimentary perspective and is worth considering if you don't mind doing the extra year (you can also do some units in session 3 to reduce this by a semester). The extra BBA will also be a bit of a bonus if you decide not to pursue accounting.

This is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to combine IT with a Commerce degree, but Macquarie doesn't have it. I didn't realise Business Information Systems was sort of like mixing IT with Commerce.

Thanks.

No worries, Macquarie is actually quite flexible so you can "mix and match" and create lots of combinations - but if you do this, always get some academic advice to plan your program ahead. Good luck, IT and Commerce is actually a really good combo.
