he hasnt leaked anything remotely interesting

all of it has been shit everybody with half a brain would have guessed our govt was already saying anyway

our governments are hilarious pussies for not dealing with him swiftly

imagine if he tried leaking shit from the russian government

he'd end up in a finnish hospital with a mysterious case of polonium poisoning in about twenty four hours

Here's a short list of interesting leaks
In fact, Wikileaks has displayed itself as a revolutionary aspect to global journalism and democratic rights...Perhaps you only think that nothing has been revealed due to your lack of interest, in which case, there's no point trying to convince you...your mind is made up.

imagine if he tried leaking shit from the russian government
If we were living during the cold war, you would be right.

In fact, Putin has commented that Assange's detention is "undemocratic"

"Why was Mr Assange hidden in jail? Is that democracy? As we say in the village: the pot is calling the kettle black," Mr Putin said.
"I want to send the ball back to our American colleagues."

You are entitled to your opinion, but I really stress that you should not classify something as 'uninteresting' just because you haven't looked into it. Also, putting your views into into another person (which you did with Putin), is pretty dangerous and deceptive. Lastly, Assange is advocating freedom of the press...How can you oppose that?

Are you actually this stupid? Putin coming out and saying that was a political move and an attempt to jibe the Americans, nothing more. Putin is frequently accused of being undemocratic because his tactics essentially are. He is something of a soft dictator. He is just attempting to stir the pot here.

Lastly, Assange is advocating freedom of the press...How can you oppose that?
I am a strong proponent of censorship. I think many will already agree with me that threats to incite violence or disturb public order, sensitive national security information, technological secrets, misleading or fraudulent speech, commercial speech, slander and defamation, and obscenity should be subject to censorship.

I would like to see much more expansive regulation of commercial speech and obscenity. Advertising should be held to objective standards and require scientific claims, and it should be much less pervasive than it is now.

I also support censoring political speech. I think that academic debate should be relatively free (though I do support purging the academy of traitors), but that news media should be censored. The media should be held to objective standards and be penalized for misleading people (conversely they should also be penalized for failing to keep people informed--which would be misleading by omission), and there should also be restrictive political censorship to prevent the media from spreading liberalism and undermining morale.

Liberalism, cosmopolitanism, anti-racism, feminism, Third Worldism, and other culturally Marxist doctrines should be considered sedition.

I never actually said I disagreed with Assange or 'oppose' him or whatever you are attempting to attach to me. The fact that he is seriously working to undermine and disrupt the current establishment is a positive thing (but not for the idiot reasons that you would probably think), but I am still more or less indifferent to him and his actions. None of the leaks you listed there are of any interest to me in the slightest.

This is news to me...Could you supply sources to his 'dictatorship' or how you know he is trying to 'stir the pot'?

I disagree with your views of censorship and believe that you contradict yourself...(You support censorship, but are against media sensationalism, which is really a form of censorship).

I'm not completely sure that you are not trolling, so I wont go into a long rant of my opposition...but I respect your views.

could you explain how I am supportive of restricting forms of speech? Are you referring to the ways USSR and other faux-Socialist nations operated? because that is not what I support, or believe to be true Democratic Socialism

Do your own homework. Do you actually need somebody to try to convince you that the Russian government is notably more authoritarian than those governments that are attempting to suppress Assange?

or how you know he is trying to 'stir the pot'?
This is called an inference.

I disagree with your views of censorship and believe that you contradict yourself...(You support censorship, but are against media sensationalism, which is really a form of censorship).
Ah, I see. So because I support censorship in some instances for some specific reasons, therefore I am in support of every manifestation of censorship everywhere regardless of its intention or type. This is an excellent deduction. I know we have come to expect this sort of shallow thinking from Greens' supporters but this is a bit much, don't you think?

I'm not completely sure that you are not trolling,
Why would I be trolling? Is there anything I have posted here that is incongruous with anything else I have written on this site?

could you explain how I am supportive of restricting forms of speech?
You missed his point. SylvesterBr is absolutely right. He may not be correct about you specifically but he is generalizing about left-leaning individuals who cloak themselves in some feigned concern for free speech and yet support restrictions on it at the same time. These mendacious little clowns are everywhere.

The point is, I can't do the homework, because I am uncertain whether your claims exist...if you make a claim, be prepared to back it up with some evidence.

Could you also provide examples for this claim.

In my opinion, it feels as if you guys are being hostile against my opinions just because I dont dislike the greens as you do.

Anyway, lets not derail the thread, if any BOS members want to turn up to the protests, they can find the appropriate location and dates.

The European Court of Human Rights has become overwhelmed with cases from Russia. As of June 1, 2007, 22.5% of its pending cases were directed against the Russian Federation.[6] In 2006 there were 151 admissible applications against Russia (out of 1634 for all the countries), while in 2005 - 110 (of 1036), in 2004 - 64 (of 830), in 2003 - 15 (of 753), in 2002 - 12 (of 578).[7][8][9]

Since 1992 at least 50 journalists have been killed across the country.[17]

Reporters without borders press freedom in 2009

Compare Western Europe with the Russian Federation. It is ranked as high as Libya!

Could you also provide examples for this claim.
SPLC, ADL, Liberal, Labour parties in the U.K, Canadian politics, etc. Canada is a particularly egregious example.

It is also the product of an observation. People may notice things and general trends regardless of whether they are able to produce specific examples when prompted.

Thank you for the information about Russia, it is definitely very interesting and something to be concerned about. Perhaps that is why Wikileaks and similar groups are important in revealing political corruption and human rights violations? :p

Unfortunately, I do not know enough about UK or Canada politics to agree or disagree with you, however I dont think you should rely on them to make assumptions about people who have no relation.

I guess that falls under stereotyping and if you judge the individual on their own actions rather than any past actions by other individuals, people might just get along.

I myself was not stereotyping (not that there is anything wrong with doing so at all) but referring to specific individuals. There are many on the left as I described. Sylvester was stereotyping, but there is nothing necessarily wrong with stereotyping. Since presumably he is not intimately acquainted with yourself or your views, he took the knowledge that was available to him and fit it into the context of general knowledge about various groups, ie, stereotypes. It is unfortunate that the relentless campaign against stereotyping has succeeded to the extent that now many people exclude it from their mental tools of analysis, to the detriment of all. Stereotypes are a highly effective and useful analytical tool that certainly have their place.
