Themi built up the naval force of athens, then later 'devised' (it may have been freak luck or possible betrayal as well) a strategy to defeat the persians at the bay of salamis.

dont know much bout solon.

solon...

-Cleared land debts: seisachtheia
-got rid of debt slaves: hektemoroi
-boule of 400
- 4 property classes...Pentekosiomedimni, hippeis, zeugitae and thetes (sp?)
-reduced areopagus powers, limiting them to more religious roles
-he was a mysognist (sp?), he didnt like women... hmm he made a wole bunch of reforms involving different ways women can be forced into slavery...i.e. not virgin before marriage...and the father can sell them into slavery. basically he made prostitution a form of funding for the state...in the day they d work as textile workers and at night..."other stuff"
(surprising the type of stuff that u remember... )

Themistocles

- "put ur faith behind the wooden walls" - oracle of delphi... themistocles says: "lets build triremes" ... other idiots "lets build walls around athens"
- so yeah...he build triremes...which killed all the persian ships at salamis... 480bc i think dont quote me on the number... but yeah... poor xerxes had to watch his entire fleet get pwned =P
