then how do you explain the fact that after this program was put onto my computer, i started getting really graphic pornographic popups when I would never visit those sites, and the fact that when i removed this stupid program, they stopped????

I have had confirmation from an IT expert that Ad watch only downloads spyware onto your computer rather than blocking it, and since it is a component of Ad aware, I hold them partially responsible for having 300+ spyware on my computer

Most ppl jump on the adaware is good bandwagon, I thought that they were too, until I installed it on my PC and it crashed my PC.

wow a great "IT Expert" then.....

Adaware, and Ad-watch do nothing of the kind.

Did you download Adaware from a trusted source? Perhaps it was just a coincidence?

Funny I did a google search and nowhere can i find a report of adaware causing adware....

Ive being using it for a while now with absouletly no problems.

Found this:

WARNING Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation

It has come to our attention that there may be a new virus and/or Trojan masquerading as a legitimate Ad-aware download. This file or software is called aware.exe or some variation of this. We have also been informed that there may be someone out there who is actively using pop ups that seem as though they are from LavaSoft. Please be sure to only download our products from the official mirror sites listed on our downloads page:

Hehe...thats a funny thing about most genuine spyware removal programs and fake ones. Most times when you do a google search for a trusted remover (like adware or spybot S&D) a paid result will return a false program with the same name.

I read about this on the Spybot S&D site where a spyware company (gator i think) paid for the google priority search thing, so that when spybot s&d was serached for, a phoney one from Gator would apear at the top.

Moral to the story, get a computer magazine with an article about spyware removal. Its more trusting then the internet at the moment.

Just go spybot s&d or adaware 6 (or higher), anything else and your just paying for somethnig that hasn't really been around long enough to have a decent definitions list.

Use a series of spyware programs, not just adaware, adaware is known to find surface spyware, spybot is good for finding the deeper ones, and hijack this for the advanced users
