Yes, but not as much as A league. And derby county would OWN some a league clubs eg Perth Glory.
Considering that Derby get 30 million pounds just for playing a year in the premier league, where as Perth have salary cap, and probably would be lucky to make a profit of even a million, its not that fair a comparison.

Even then, i wouldnt be so sure that derby would win. Soccer is unpredictable like that.

Can't blame him, Man Utd is the ultimate bandwagon team.

As set by whos standards ?

That's a completely subjective viewpoint. John Smith on the street might think Sydney is above the average it should be.
By the standards of logic ffs. They have the biggest population to draw upon. Even their finals attendances are shitful.

With Sydney it's either results or entertainment. One or the other, rarely both. They had their chance to cash in on Beckham mania, but they failed miserably.

We live in Australia. The sooner you accept that for atleast the next 10 years it will be referred to as soccer by a large amount of people the better.

It's called soccer in the U.S too but that doesn't mean its different to what they play in England

Re: The Official A-League Thread.

Everybody knows the official and correct name of the sport is football.

But a lot of australians are used to calling at soccer, so it becomes a habit. Like it matters, if anything calling it football causes more problems in australia due to all the different football codes.

I say us newey kids will be waaay better than melbourne at title defence... At least we're not like CCM and have been in 2 grand finals and lost both of them :-D, and honestly no one cares about League, AFL and Union, they're all a bunch of arrogant spoilt brats, at least A-League players paresent a good public image to kids

I didn't want to be the one to back the bad news to you, but have you seen your squad for the year ? i would say second only to Perth Glory.

And besides, 2 grand finals and a minor premership is better then 1 grand final win imo. And im a sydney fc fan so no bias.

Re: The Official A-League Thread.

Here's news:

Dwight Yorke keen to sign with Central Coast Mariners on a 2 year deal.

Just saw a press conference on Seven News, so no links to hard-links unfortunately. However, he did sound really genuine.

Apparently travelling to Sydney during the week for talks with the Mariners.

If it's true, thats an awesome signing, He has a huge following in soccer fans around australia especially in the sydney hunter region. Probably wont be as effective as he was with sydney, but is still better then most a league players. Shame he didn't come back to sydney though, even though we can't afford him
