It is not just America's favourite book, it's the worlds all time best seller.

If people are desiring a more intellectual and philosophical approach to Christianity, I suggest you view these videos by Ravi Racharias:

The Existence of God- Pt1

Why the Bible?

Also, read any of C.S. Lewis' non-fiction books such as 'Mere Christianity'. Don't just reject the most popular book ever without researching its claims or because of books such as Leviticus without understanding why it says what it says.

Also, just because some Christians are stupid doesn't mean all Christians are stupid. Its like talking to two anglo-saxon men who are completely sexist and concluding 'all anglo-saxon men are sexist'.

Don't just be a cynic, do a bit of research.:read:

That's because you don't understand the Bible.

So explain it to us, then.

By the way, nobody NEEDS Jesus. I'm doing fine without him.
The human rights you know are based on Christian beliefs, Communists and Socialists have human rights but they're as you know not the same.

Christianity also plays a major role in philanthropy. Without the love of Christians many poor and needy could've been left to rot.

I absolutely agree.

I find it disheartening how secularised Australia has become and how atheists who know only of the basics of certain religions feel they can trash it. I find it incredibly strange how atheist praise their sports or their favourite Hollywood celebrity.

It's also extremely annoying when atheists claim they will undertake an impartial journey of religious discovery to weigh up the truth within various religions.

For example, Andrew Denton set out to understand religion by going to a few religious conventions in the US. A lot of the questions he asked were crafted so to stump each religion's representative and basically you could see how he was trying to show religion as ridiculous.

He said after his little adventure that religion is "one invisible friend against another" obviously the words of a religious novice or perhaps atheist without a care for trying to understand religion.

Really, religions seem to be in continual combat but at the heart of every religion one can find strong similarities. For example, Christianity was born out of Judaism and both carry common beliefs and goals. Superficially, religions seem worlds apart but they are not.

Even atheists who attempt to disregard religion find themselves deeply immersed within it without even realising it. This is because religion and humanity work so closely together.

Anyway, if anything it's "religion versus non-religion"

You only have to look at our world to see that everything is a plan and everything has structure, just like religion. There is always something to strive for or another stage to reach. For Christians it's Heaven and for Hindus it's nirvana. Sure Hindus need to undergo a few more attempts until they reach it but it's obvious how all religion are similarly planned.

In this way, religion is believable and just because it's complex does not mean that it's ridiculous.

Look, if you're an atheist I don't really care, though I find it morbid how you will live and then die and be reduced to nothing.

Maybe everyone should be more "open-minded" and not look to trash each other's arguements.

If you're relligious then I find that incredibly reassuring.
If you're not then go worship a box of original recipe.

That's because it's all man made, it's like saying politics and humanity work so closely together lol

Nature (natural selection) isn't planned and doesn't have any end goals, it just does its thing. So what if you find it morbid, that doesn't make it less true.

Religion isn't half as deep, complex or profound as you convey in that post, which notably doesn't actually mention anything religion says. Its claims are fucking stupid and childish

Did Mohammed really fly to heaven on a magical horse?

Was there really a great flood?

Nothing in any religion can compare in terms of complexity to a junior high school (simplified) science textbook. Not only that, but science is true.

Being reassuring or making you happy doesn't make it real.

That's without touching on how retarded you'd have to be to think there's no alternatives other than Christianity and Communism.

I wasn't trying to prove that religion is true because it makes me "happy" nor was I writing an essay about the different types of religion. I was just trying to show all different types of religion in an "open-minded" way, which atheists seem to struggle to do.

Basically, you have misunderstood what I have written like you so hopelessly misunderstand religion...

... and yet you still think you can debate against it.

lol again with the "it's just so complex" stuff

this is the 21st century, being mystical doesn't impress anyone anymore

religion is anything but open minded; it claims to know the exact unchanging mind of God, it is sexist, homophobic, bigoted and violent (talking about the 3 Abrahamic religions here)

plus the claims of different religions are contradictory, either you're saved through believing in Jesus or you're going to burn in hell for all eternity, not much room for open-mindedness there

in any case
You only have to look at our world to see that everything is a plan and everything has structure, just like religion.
this is still false

taking a journey of religious discovery is sort of ignoring the elephant in the room, lol
